Goals

á      Mathematical developments:

1.    Understand vector calculus and itÕs application to electromagnetic problems

2.    Understand MaxwellÕs equations and how to apply them

3.    Learn techniques for solving the Laplace and related equations

 

á      Solve electrostatic and magnetostatic problems using potentials

 

á      Learn the effects of matter on electromagnetic fields

 

Grading

 

Your grade will be based on the following weighting of course elements:

 

Homework:   30%

Midterm:        30%

Final Exam:   40%

 

Total:              100%
