The Physics Department maintains a telescope facility just off the NW corner of the parking lot west of Aggie Village (up the hill from the football stadium). The main telescope is housed in a small white dome just west of a line of satellite dishes. The facility is used for observing associated with Physics classes, but members of the public over 12 years in age are welcome to attend. Observing sessions are generally on Mon., Tues., Wed., and Thurs., 9:00 PM, but will be later in spring and summer. Observing is currently on a standby schedule, meaning that sessions are held whenever weather is clear and instructors are available. If observing is to be held on a given night, a message to that effect will be posted on the voice mail at 797-2942 one half hour before dark that evening. Otherwise there will not be observing. The observatory is unheated, and temperatures are typically colder than the average outdoor temperature due to the exposed location. Please dress accordingly.
